23: Stephanie Karam on school, work, and figuring out your path
Hi everyone, and thank you for tuning in to episode 23 of the Learn With Lels podcast!
In this episode, I spoke with Stephanie Karam, a career counsellor at Ontario Tech University. In our conversation, Stephanie spoke about:
the common struggles that her students talk to her about surrounding their program and career decisions;
the messages she has for people who are trying to figure out their educational and career paths; and
some words of wisdom for those whose journeys are going differently than originally planned.
I relate so much to Stephanie’s students. Significant familial pressures, career uncertainties, and program dissatisfaction were all things that I experienced big time throughout school, and having someone like Steph would’ve been so helpful back then. I know that anyone going through these things will certainly benefit from what Steph has to say.
On top of all this, Steph also had some great tidbits of wisdom on anxiety management, embracing your unique path, and dealing with societal pressures surrounding timelines.
I loved having this conversation, and I hope that you enjoy listening to it!
