Rain, snow, and ghosts

Last week was frustrating and spooky.

Had to get out before work, since the forecast said it’d be nice at that time.

First, I’ll tell you why it was frustrating: it rained and even fricken snowed almost every single day, so it was super difficult to find time to get out and longboard.

With my friends, family and even some randoms checking out my blog after my first post, I was feeling the motivation/pressure to get on it—I don’t want to be a failure with all these people paying attention!

I did manage to find some dry time to get out, and during that time I focused on pushing off with my left foot, rather than just my right, and trying to take a few steps on my board.

Here’s what that looked like at the start of the week versus what I look like now.

Yes, I am aware that the sped up part looks like normal speed.

Am I longboard dancing or am I longboard baby stepping? The answer is the latter, but get off my back! I’m trying here! This will take time.

If you’re wondering how I recorded the second part of that video, my dad took it while driving in my Pink Sweetie. He started out by running beside me, but he got too tired, lol. He’s always embarrassed to drive my car, especially when the neighbours are out, so he turned up The Weeknd on the radio because he thought that would make everything look cooler.

Me, my little dad, and my little car.

Pink Sweetie suits him, no?

So yeah, the weather got me down a bit, but I still managed to make some gentle progress.

Now I’ll tell you why last week was spooky.

When I posted my first blog pic on Insta, that prompted one of my Bumble ghosts to try to come back to life.

*For my titas who are reading this, Bumble ghosts are boys you connect with on this dating app, then suddenly—for me it’s usually after they ask me to meet up—they disappear like the haunted dingbats they are.

My dad, out here wishing he had a son.

I know I look cute in that pic—I made my dad squat and get all the angles for a good half hour until we got it right—but get your ass outta my DMs!

Maybe that guy’s reading this now, and maybe he thought it’d be cool to return from the dead since it’s Halloween season—how festive—but, friends, we gotta leave our ghosts in the afterlife!

In addition to dodging phantoms, this week I’ll be continuing to practice my longboard walking and my goofy stance (pushing off with the left foot).

I’m also going to try to do a spin on my board. Tune in next week to see if I can do it.

What I’ve learned/some realizations:

  • The good people in your life will do things they don’t like to help you with your goals. (Thanks, Dad. I know you don’t like running or driving in my pink car.)

  • We really gotta do something about climate change. I’m not about these early snowfalls.

  • That grey sweater makes me look heavy.

  • The ghosts will come back, and when they do, you must ignore their eerie asses.

This week’s videographer was Joe, aka Joselito, aka Zenon. Volume on to hear him complaining.
