4: Auntie Connie Mariano on love and her time as the White House doctor
Happy New Year, everyone, and thanks for tuning in to the Learn With Lels podcast!
For my first episode of the decade, I spoke with my dad’s cousin, my Auntie Connie. Auntie Connie was a doctor in the White House from 1992 until 2001, where her patients included President George H. W. Bush, President Bill Clinton, and President George W. Bush. She was also the first Filipino American to become a Navy Admiral, and today, she works at the Center for Executive Medicine in Arizona, which she founded in 2005. (She’s a true boss, eh?!)
In our conversation, we talked about:
our family and did some catching up;
her time at the White House;
her love story with her late husband, John; and
the lessons she’s learned on this unique and impressive journey.
I hope you enjoy this episode and I hope that your year is off to a great start!
(Side note, a huge thank you goes to my friend Conan Ho for helping me with the technical issues I had with this episode.)
